Trapped in the Closet

Found this from del.icio.us, here's the ep that Isaac Hayes quit South Park over (what bullshit)

Here's the entire ep of "Trapped in the Closet"

Stan: [walks out into the hall] Dad! Tom Cruise won't come out of the closet!
Cruise: What?!
Stan: Tom Cruise locked himself in my closet and he won't come out. [Randy enters the room and tries to open the closet door, then knocks. Stan looks on]
Randy: Mr. Cruise? Mr. Cruise, come out of the closet.
Cruise: No!
Randy: Come on, Mr. Crusie, this is ridiculous.
Cruise: I'm never coming out!
Randy: [to Stan] What did you say to him?
Stan: I just told him I thought the Napoleon Dynamite guy is a batter actor than he is.
Randy: Oh boy. [knocks on the door again] Mr. Cruise, you can't just stay in the closet, alright? You need to come out.
Sharon: What's going on?
Randy: Tom Cruise won't come out of the closet.
Sharon: What??
Cruise: Just leave me alone!
Randy: Well, we CAN'T leave you alone because YOU won't come out of the closet!
[Channel 4 Network News - South Park Evening News]
Field Reporter: It's been four hours now, and Tom Cruise still will not come out of the closet. Hundreds of onlookers here have gathered here in hopes that the celebrity will finally give in.
Sergeant: Tom Cruise, this is Park County police! Please come out of the closet. [the house is shown] Everybody here just wants you to come out of the closet, Tom. [someoen takes a picture. The house is shown again] Nobody's gonna be mad, everything's gonna be all right. Just come out of the closet.
Field Reporter: We're still not exactly sure why Tom Cruise is in the closet, but I'm being joined now by famous singer/songwriter R. Kelly.
R. Kelly: Well I was just standing here, and Tom Cruise locked himself in the closet
I asked myself why won't Tom Cruise just come out the closet?
Nobody has no answers, and so I pull out my gun!
[pulls out a gun and cocks it. The reporter screams and everyone scatters]
Tell my why Tom Cruise in the clsoet or else I'm gonna shoot someone!

Best Burger

Baseball's Best Burger

The Grizzlies and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts have teamed up to create “Baseball’s Best Burger.” The burger, which was debuted at the Grizzlies' December 10th sale, consists of a thick and juicy burger topped with sharp cheddar cheese and two slices of bacon. The burger is then placed in between each side of a Krispy Kreme Original Glazed doughnut.

I love the description from the smoking gun:

While we normally point out the highlights of most documents, there are so many in this demented, and very graphic, contract, we really can't do it justice. So set aside ten minutes--and prepare to be repulsed. (4 pages)

I Hate Chris Duhon

Thank you ESPN, for putting this story on your front page...reminding me of that damn shot that made me lose money and made me hate stupid @#%^@#$ Chris Duhon even more

The shot heard 'round the sports books

Two years ago in the national semifinal game between Duke and Connecticut, Duhon, a guard for the Blue Devils, hit a 38-foot shot at the buzzer. It was his 125th career 3-pointer. It came in his 4,183rd minute as a Duke basketball player. And it was the last shot of his collegiate career. Beyond that, it meant nothing to Duhon at the time. Three points wasn't enough. Duke was down by four. UConn won the game, 79-78.
"I knew that was it for me," Duhon says now. "My last college game. That was the first thought that came into my head. After it went in, I was about to cry and went down on my knees when Ben [UConn guard Ben Gordon] picked me up. I congratulated him, and they moved on from there."

But countless others had a much harder time moving on from there. In most sports books, the spread for the game was two points. To a certain segment of the population, Duhon's shot had immediate meaning. Major meaning.

Anyone who had bet on Connecticut had now lost. Duhon's shot meant Duke had covered.

The next day, ESPN.com reported that
the shot likely shifted something between $30 million and $100 million in bets from one side to the other.

Allan Ray

Ray OK

Villanova's Allan Ray's right eye is sore and he has a bit of a headache, but he was resting comfortably as the team was driving back to Philadelphia on the bus Saturday after suffering an eye injury during Friday's loss to Pittsburgh.

Team spokesperson Mike Sheridan told ESPN.com that Ray will see an eye specialist in Philadelphia Sunday or Monday for an examination.

Ray will use eye drops for treatment. According to Sheridan, Ray hasn't complained of any blurry vision.
...
Ray was released from St. Vincent's Hospital in New York early Saturday morning. The official report was a "soft tissue" injury to the right eye.

"He couldn't see when he was here," Wildcats coach Jay Wright said. "They got pressure on it right away. ... When I first saw them [team officials after the game] they said his vision was starting to come back. Now they said his vision is good and they're going to release him."

Getting to this point, however, was a traumatic emotional journey for everyone involved in the program. Wright said this was the happiest he has been after a loss.

Ray, one of the No. 2-rated Wildcats' integral parts, took an inadvertent finger to his eye from Pitt's Carl Krauser 32 seconds into the second half as Krauser, Ray and Pitt's Ronald Ramon went for a loose ball.

According to those who were physically close to Ray, he immediately grabbed his eye and said he couldn't see.

** Now Watch the Video of it. Seriously, watch it...well, unless you don't wanna be grossed out.

"What the F was that?"

Technical Difficulties at ESPNEWS (headphones - towards the end):

Mario Question Blocks

posterchild mario question blocks

A friend of mine (who is not actually me) goes by the name Poster Child when he is doing art in public spaces. He believes that our public spaces (sidewalks, parks, etc) have been taken over by ads, and so he battles this creeping loss of public spaces by placing his art in similar situations. Those are the politics! The result is a lot of cool stuff that you can just come across when you're walking around town.

Anyway!

This page is for the question blocks that my friend did at the end of May, 2005. He thought that his town of Windsor, Ontario would look a lot cooler if there were question blocks, circa Super Mario Brother 1, around town.

Doomed Dukies

I found this very entertaining:

Doomed Dukies

Admittedly, some Duke players have found a bit of success in the NBA. In his career, Elton Brand has almost 10,000 points scored, 5,000 rebounds grabbed, and 4,000 cheeseburgers eaten. Shane Battier has made a career out of flopping to get charges called. Luol Deng could be even better when he realizes he can do toe-touches without bending over, saving valuable energy in pre-game stretching. Corey Maggette could win the coveted title of "The Cedric Ceballos of his Generation," which is kind of like being a CBA All-Star, but with less glory. Any time you make an alphabetical list of Egyptian-born NBA players, Alaa Abdelnaby still comes first, and that's got to count for something.

...

A better solution is to blame Coach K's system for making above-average players look fantastic, which is better than his protégé Quin Snyder's system of making fantastic players look below-average. (Don't worry, Quin; you've got the best hair in the whole damn unemployment line.) In this vein, Redick might just be better off bagging the NBA and joining Coach K's bench a la Steve Wojciehowski, although he'll have to slap the court an awful lot in his last dozen games to be as annoying as Wojo was in his playing days.

Katrina Briefing Video

(from Wonkette)

How the Whitehouse heard the FEMA warnings:

GDrive?

GDrive?

Now, according to these notes it isn't far from reality.

"With infinite storage, we can house all user files, including: emails, web history, pictures, bookmarks, etc and make it accessible from anywhere (any device, any platform, etc). We already have efforts in this direction in terms of GDrive, GDS, Lighthouse, but all of them face bandwidth and storage constraints today." — excerpt from Analyst Day presentation notes.

The GDrive service will provide anyone (who trusts Google with their data) a universally accessible network share that spans across computers, operating systems and even devices. Users will no longer require third party applications to emulate this behaviour by abusing Gmail storage.

55mph

Drive 55, try to stay alive

I was pretty sure that I was doing something stupid," said another.

That may be true. But, young and brash, they had a plan.

They wanted to go the speed limit on I-285.

In four cars, on all four lanes, the students from Georgia State University and other local colleges paced the entire midmorning flow of Perimeter traffic behind them at 55 mph for half an hour. They call it "an act of civil obedience."

"I get a lot of tickets," said Andy Medlin, 20, the Georgia State student who came up with the idea. "The best way to expose the flaws in the system is by following it."

Thankfully, they survived unharmed, though much maligned. The eight students captured it all on video for a student film competition, and the five-minute piece has fired up the country this week on blogs, talk radio, and national news broadcasts.
